Best time:

The best time to travel to the mountains of Nepal is April-May and October-November. Why? The explanation is very simple, The trick is that Nepal is located very close to the tropics, and in the tropics, the seasons are determined not by the air temperature, but by precipitation (monsoons) – the dry season and the rainy season. And if you go to the mountains, then you understand that prolonged rains in the mountains are a problem.

So, in Nepal, the main monsoon takes place in the summer, from June to August. Therefore, you can potentially go trekking to the trek from September to May. But in winter, in the middle of this “dry” period, it is quite cold, and therefore the “warm edges” of the dry season – spring and autumn – remain the most comfortable for travel.

According to our past experiences, trekkers realized for sure that they had to go in the fall. Yes, someone in pursuit of flowering plants travels in the spring, but still, judging by the photographs, nature is a little grey in spring, withered after winter. In autumn, there is solid greenery, albeit without flowers.

Now, after passing the trekking to Annapurna, we can be sure that you do not regret that you choose exactly in the fall. It was dry, with a lot of sun and greenery. The only thing was that we were at the very peak of the season (late October – early November), and there were a lot of people.

From our past experiences, we realized that you can go in the second half of November and even in the first half of December, especially on treks. There will be half the number of people on the trail, and the air is slightly colder. Do not choose winter for this trekking due to close the pass by heavy snowing.

Ans:

The Annapurna Circuit trek typically takes around 12-21 days to complete, depending on the route and the pace of the trekker.

Some trekkers may choose to take a shorter route and finish in as little as 12 days, while others may take a longer route and finish in 21 days or more.

Factors such as fitness level, weather conditions, and acclimatization also play a role in determining the duration of the trek.

Ans:

The Annapurna Circuit trek is considered a moderate to challenging trek, with some strenuous sections that require a good level of fitness.

The trek involves long days of hiking and climbing, with some steep and rocky sections, and high-altitude passes that reach over 5,000 meters. The trail can be challenging due to the altitude, weather conditions, and steep inclines, but the rewards of the trek make it worth the effort.

The trek also passes through remote and rugged terrain, so it is important to be well-prepared and equipped for the journey.

Ans:

It is possible to complete the Annapurna Circuit trek in 10 days, but it would be a very fast-paced and strenuous schedule. This would require a high level of fitness and experience with trekking at high altitudes.

It would also mean that you would have less time to acclimatize, which can be risky and lead to altitude sickness. Additionally, a 10-day itinerary would not allow for much time to enjoy the scenery or rest.

It is generally recommended to take 12-15 days for the Annapurna Circuit trek, to allow for adequate time for acclimatization and to fully experience the trek. This will also help to avoid the negative effects of altitude sickness, which is a risk at high altitudes.

Ans:

A sleeping bag liner is a lightweight and inexpensive option that will add an extra layer of warmth and cleanliness to your bedding.

Additionally, it is also a good idea to bring your own sleeping bag if you are planning to camp along the trek, as camping equipment is not readily available for rent in the region.

It is important to be prepared for cold temperatures at high altitudes, and having your own sleeping bag will give you more control over your comfort level.

Ans:

Both the Everest Base Camp Trek and the Annapurna Circuit Trek are considered challenging treks, but they have their own unique set of difficulties.

The Everest Base Camp Trek is considered more strenuous because it is at a higher altitude and it involves climbing steep inclines up to 5,364m (17,598 ft) at the base camp. The trek also involves a longer duration and more remote terrain than the Annapurna Circuit trek. It also requires more acclimatization days to adjust to the altitude.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is also considered challenging due to the high altitude and steep inclines, but it has a more diverse range of terrain and scenery than the Everest Base Camp trek.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek also passes over the Thorong La Pass, which reaches 5,416m (17,769 ft) which is higher than the base camp of Everest. Additionally, the Annapurna Circuit Trek requires fewer acclimatization days.

It is also worth noting that both treks are affected by weather conditions, which can make them more difficult. Ultimately, whether one trek is harder than the other depends on an individual’s fitness level, experience, and adaptation to the altitude.

Ans:

The Annapurna Circuit trek passes through a variety of different climates, from subtropical forests to high-altitude deserts. The temperatures can vary greatly depending on the altitude and the time of year. During the day, temperatures can be quite mild, but they can drop dramatically at night, especially at high altitudes.

At lower altitudes, temperatures can be quite warm, with daytime temperatures reaching up to 25-30 degrees Celsius (77-86 degrees Fahrenheit). However, at night, temperatures can drop to around 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit).

As you ascend to higher altitudes, temperatures will become colder. At the Thorong La Pass, which is the highest point of the trek at 5,416 meters (17,769 ft), temperatures can drop to well below freezing, even during the day. Nighttime temperatures can drop to -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) or lower.

However, it is also important to note that the Annapurna Circuit Trek has become increasingly crowded in recent years, and the trekking industry has also grown exponentially.

The influx of trekkers has led to increased pollution and deforestation, and there is also a strain on the limited resources of the local communities. So, trekkers should be more environmentally conscious and responsible.

  4. Altitude training: The Annapurna Circuit trek takes you to high altitudes, so it’s a good idea to do some training at altitude. If you live near the mountains, try doing some hikes at high elevations. If not, you can try using altitude training masks or doing stair-climbing exercises with a mask on.
  5. Practice carrying a loaded backpack: You should practice carrying a loaded backpack to get your body used to the weight and to help you determine the right pack size and weight.
